Hong Kong might be best known for shopping, dim sum and skyscrapers, but its top-notch pools also deserve a spot on any city bucket list. Whether it’s the world’s highest pool or a natural infinity pond on a mountainside, these Hong Kong swimming spots are hard to beat, especially with their stunning views.
When it comes to hongkong pools, many locals think of the newly opened Kennedy Town Swimming Complex (Jian Ni Di Cheng You Yong Chi). It took eight years for this spaceship-type development to come to fruition along Victoria Harbour, and cost $671 million HK ($86 million U.S.). But this destination pool isn’t just for swimmers — it’s also got water slides, fountains and more to make it a great family day out.
While most locals will probably be tempted to take refuge in their air-conditioned homes, there are still those who brave the sweltering summer temperatures to get some refreshing swimming done. Fortunately, the city’s top hotels have some of the most beautiful pool views you can imagine.
From the top of the Ritz Carlton Hong Kong (pictured), you can look down on the entire city from its impressive infinity pool. After a quick swim, you can grab a cocktail and some snacks from the al fresco Fish Bar and Pool Lounge, all while enjoying the view.
The hotel’s outdoor kid lagoon is a big draw for families as it’s full of fun water activities like a pirate ship, aqua tunnel and slew of waterslides. Non-hotel guests can also enjoy access to the pool on weekdays for four hours if they purchase a swim pass at the front desk.
While most of the city’s public pools are now open after the coronavirus crisis, a shortage of lifeguards has led to some swimming lanes and facilities at some of them being closed. Hopefully, the situation will improve soon as more staff arrive for training.
